'Santa' Stole Mince Pies
Other Stories

A serial Mince Pie thief has been arrested by police in South Oxfordshire, after he was caught red handed by a home owner who wished to remain anonymous. The thief was dressed in a imitation Santa costume, and police believe he is responsible for a series of related crimes that have taken place over the past week.
Police don't know how he gained access to the property, but are investigating the suggestion that he might have come down the chimney after traces of soot were found on his clothing.
Santa Arrives Early
The home owner described how the thief was discovered by his 7 year old daughter: "The first I knew about it was when my daughter came bounding into my room shouting that she'd seen 'Santa' in the kitchen when she went downstairs to get a glass of water. I knew it wasn't Christmas Eve, so I went down to investigate and there he was eating my mince pies. It was lucky that my daughter went down at that point, otherwise this menace may have gone on stealing mince pies for weeks. Or, even worse, he might have finished off the mince pies and made a start on my Christmas beer!"
Police are urging anyone who has also been subject to mince pie thefts to come forwards. "We know it's an unusual situation, and it's easy to overlook a few mince pies going missing - but the more people that come forward, the easier it will be to make sure this imposter spends Christmas behind bars."
